1. One Week To Grow Closer
When I was five years old, my dad and his four sisters began having our week-long family reunion in the last two cabins on the beach at Cragun's. Words truly cannot describe the memories that were created in the thirteen years this tradition continued. Hunting for sea shells, water-volleyball, endless hours water-skiing and tubing, watching baby ducks swim by with their parents, listening to the sound of the loons as the sun sets over the lodge, and probably most importantly - campfires on the beach in the evenings. I learned so much about my family at those campfires, and every year it was our one week to grow closer together. My Dad and his four sister lost both their parents to tragic illnesses when they were just teenagers. This was their chance to bring their family together to remember what was most important in life - family. That is Cragun's real legacy. After the cousins grew old enough to begin college, the family couldn't afford to take our week together anymore. Now most of us are married and starting families. I would love more than anything to restart this tradition for our next generation!

2. Grandma’s Favorite Photo
Twenty years ago, my grandparents took my younger brother, Joey and I to Cragun's Resort when we were 7 and 10 years old for a one week vacation. My brother wanted to sing a song for the talent show, but he got scared and froze. I held the microphone for him and tried to remind him the words yet nothing came out of his mouth. I remember looking out at the audience and seeing our grandma mouthing the words to the song and clapping for us. She was so proud of us just for going up on stage.
Later that weekend, my grandpa attempted to teach us how to play tennis, showing us how to serve, how to return the ball, but we spent more time chasing the tennis ball, then we did actually hitting it. Grandpa was so mild tempered that he didn't mind all we did was run back and forth, never actually learning how to play tennis. I think he just liked being outside.
We loved to swim and enjoyed the pool very much. Joey and I took turns doing "cannon balls" and as long as we didn't splash our grandparents, they didn't mind how long we swam. Grandma took pictures of our trip and she kept her favorite one framed on her book case until she passed away many years later. It was a picture of me whispering into my brother's ear with my hand covering my mouth so no one could hear what was being said. I have no idea what I told him, but the smile on his face in the picture is huge and his eyes look mischievous. Everyone chuckled when they saw this picture on grandma's book case.
Even though nothing happened the way we planned it to go, Joey and I had an adventurous vacation with our grandparents and I will forever cherish those happy memories for the rest of my life.

3. Ask Me To Marry Him
Our favorite memory of Cragun's is my finance bringing me there to ask me to marry him and in the same trip we found out we were pregnant with our now four year old daughter, due to financial stress we have not taken a vacation since and think what a great place to take her to where it all started!!! We love you guys and your resort!!!!

4. First Ever Family Vacation
Memorial Day 2012. First ever family vacation for us. Being a single dad and a Veteran of the Marines and the Army, I missed lots of chances with the kids growing up to make a spectacular memory. Cragun's was our first opportunity to do so, and now hopefully it will be a tradition as it left a warm feeling in all of our hearts.
